Bespoke Process

Why bespoke? Choosing a bespoke piece allows you to tailor the design to suit yours or your partner's style. The bespoke route allows you to consider the whole process from initial design inspirations right through to how the final polish will be, resulting in something completely individual.

Favourite colours can be incorporated into the design through precious metal or gemstone choices and patterns and shapes can be woven into the band. All materials are ethically sourced. We offer certified stones from reputable dealers for each ring we make. Would you like your engagement ring and wedding band to interlock? By commissioning Rosie to produce a set, this is an option available to you.

Bespoke is not necessarily more expensive. The cost will be comparable with an off-the-shelf ring with a similar degree of quality and selection of materials. What the high street offering will fail to demonstrate is the time you have taken to design a unique engagement ring.

The Bespoke Process

Commissioning a bespoke piece is a simple process that follows the three steps listed below. If you are unable to visit the studio in person, the entire process can be conducted over the phone, in a video chat or via email. At the outset of the commission we provide an estimated completion date so you can plan your proposal. The timeframe is dependent upon design complexity and stone sourcing but typically takes 6 to 8 weeks.

1. Free Consultation

Commence the process by phone or video call. This relaxed discussion on style, stone choices and budget will allow us to get a feel for what you would like us to produce. If you have already put some thought into the design please collect any sketches you have made or images of work you like. Take a look at our bespoke engagement ring archive to help give you some ideas.

2. Designs

Rosie will use this guidance to produce a series of designs and obtain estimates for stones from her network of suppliers. Rosie initially sketches ideas and develops the concept using CAD. By using CAD software, she can create a photorealistic render of your piece to give you an exact impression of how the chosen design will look from every angle. If time or budget are limited, we have a series of semi-customisable engagement ring options to choose from. We arrange a further meeting to present the designs and costings. After a period of reflection design changes can be raised or, if all is to your liking, the design is signed off.

3. Making Your Bespoke piece

The Rosie Kent Team of highly skilled jewellery makers will produce your piece to the exact specification detailed in the design. Our experience in crafting beautiful unique jewellery ensures the highest level of quality and attention to detail. We keep as much of the making process in house as possible, however when we do outsource for casting and setting, we work with small independent companies using sustainable and recycled materials. Each piece is stamped by the Assay office to guarantee the metal, year and place of production complete with our makers mark to show its authenticity. When your piece is complete you are welcome to collect from the studio or we use a secure courier if you live further afield.

Above are four examples of how the computer aided images will look. Cad technology is incredible, being able to make a model using this cutting-edge software keeps wastage to a minimum. Before signing off a design Rosie will send you a variety of renders, viewing your new piece of jewellery from a few different angles thus providing a pretty good idea of the finishes product.

After sales service

We pride ourselves on producing the highest quality pieces of jewellery from recycled or Fairtrade materials. All stones are sourced from reputable dealers and set by expert setters who have been working in their profession for years. Every bespoke engagement ring has a 5 year warranty and we will repair issues that arise from a manufacturing defect. This does not extend to accidental damage. If your ring has been accidentally damaged, we will take a look for free and advise you on the best way forward.

Engagement Ring Resizing

If the ring does not fit we will resize it once for free. Throughout the process we will take steps to avoid this. In the initial consultation we will advise you on all the tricks to get your partner's exact ring size. In the design consultation we’ll discuss the design of the band and if patterns are used, we will let you know if there are resizing implications. If you have more questions to ask then please head to our bespoke FAQs section for a bit more information.

Below we've put together a little gallery of a few of our bespoke commissions, it's not always about rings but they do seem to be very popular! Hope this gives you an idea of what is possible. The textured orb pendant channel set with baguette cut diamonds threaded onto an antique spiga chain was a particular favourite, maybe you can see why! Great to make these matching chunky coin necklaces hand engraved with a Robert Burns poem around the circumference. Next are three geometric rings for three sisters, we used their own diamonds and created rings to suit their different personalities but linking them very much together. In the next image I can't remember what beetle this is based on, but really enjoyed making this brooch, love the combination of gold and silver to highlight its body. You can never go wrong with a classic signet ring round shape, but love this clean hand engraved initial and laurel leaf detail up the sides. Finally are a set of silver cufflinks depicting the architecture of Gainsborough studios and the iconic brutalist Keeling House, both of which in London.

The design, attention to detail and quality of the end product is of the highest standard. We’d love to hear your bespoke design ideas, so please get in touch by emailing the studio at
